Chocolate Banana Tofu Smoothie Ingredients

Amount Ingredient
1ripe banana, frozen
1/2 cupsilken tofu
1 tablespoonunsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 cupmilk of your choice
1 teaspoonmaple syrup

Chocolate Banana Tofu Smoothie Instructions

Blend the milk, silken tofu, and cocoa powder together first until completely smooth and evenly colored, which keeps you from ending up with streaks of unmixed cocoa later. Add the frozen banana and maple syrup, then blend again until thick and shake-like.

Silken tofu is doing double duty here: it thickens the smoothie the way ice cream or frozen yogurt normally would, while adding far more protein and much less sugar. Combined with cocoa and a frozen banana, it tastes like a lightened-up chocolate milkshake.

Freezing the banana ahead of time is what gives this smoothie its thick, milkshake-like body, so peel and slice bananas before they turn brown and keep a bag of them in the freezer for whenever the craving hits.
